Welcome Skintellectuals! I’ve been getting asked a lot lately how to read ingredients lists on products and what can you use to get better at identifying things to look out for so i thought i would get together with Judit from INCI Decoder, one of my most favourite website to use when looking at ingredient lists. I am Judit, a computer scientist turned cosmetic formulator and currently a cosmetic science student. I have been obsessed with looking at ingredient lists for about 10 years and will try to give you some useful tips on how to decode ingredient lists. The…

Welcome Skintellectuals! Sunscreen in my opinion is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine, i always say why try undo the damage caused by the sun with skincare product when you can just prevent it happening in the first place by using a good SPF. La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light is my go to sunscreen for daily use because it is so water thin unlike the sunscreens from days gone by this isnt thick at all hence the name “Ultra-light” Ingredients: , |, ||, | , , |, , , |, , , , |,…

Over the past few years in the beauty industry we have all been told that Parabens are bad and cause cancer and that we should avoid them, well im here to tell you that isn’t true! First off what is a paraben and what do they actually do? A paraben is a preservative in the form of something like Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben etc. Parabens are added to cosmetics to extend their shelf lives without a preservative products would go off and develop bacteria and mould would grow. I dont know about you but i dont want a product i paid…

Welcome Skintellectuals! I love the idea of using Vitamin C in a routine, as an antioxidant Vitamin C protects your skin from free radical damage as well as improving the look aging, brighten an uneven skin tone, as well as providing skin-restoring and soothing benefits but the pure form of Vitamin C L-Ascorbic Acid can often be quite irritating and me being one of them i often have trouble using pure L-Ascorbic Acid as its too irritating for me its one of the very few ingredients my skin doesn’t get on with. I was really excited to try out the…

Welcome Skintellectuals! I thought it would be a good time to put this post together as i tend to get asked a lot about retinol and how to use it. This is a guide for anyone that is curious about retinol and wants to take the first step into trying it out.Retinol is the most effective and proven form of any of the so called “anti aging” ingredients, i dont really like that term but its well known and easy to use. Retinol comes in many different forms and these different forms all do the same thing but to a…

Welcome Skintellectuals! It’s no surprise that Pixi Beauty is one of my favourite brands for exfoliants and the like, so today im coming at you with a review and overview of the new Retinol Tonic by Pixi. At first i was rather skeptical about this product because Retinol in tonic/toner form doesn’t sound that amazing but the more about i thought about it the more i realised that while this may not be something that i will use it would be a good product for those just venturing into the world of retinol. Description: Retinol tonic is quite interesting because…

Welcome Skintellectuals! Can you believe that 2018 is over already? its insane it feels like this year has completely flown by! Since it is now 2019 i thought i would look back to the previous year and let know some of the products that i loved using in 2018. These products will be from a variety of categories e.g. (cleansers, serums, moisturisers etc) and from drugstore to high-end skincare lines. I have been loving the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly from Clinique. I absolutely adore anything that contains hyaluronic acid but i often find that it can be quite expensive depending…

Welcome Skintellectuals! I know that i tend to talk a lot about high end/luxury skincare, its because more expensive skincare tends to be better in the sense of better research and higher levels of elegant formulations because there tends to be more money to put into the product but Cerave is a complete exception from that. Cerave is an American brand that was developed with dermatologists, its a brand that a lot of problem skins tend to use as it is recommended by a lot of dermatologists. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser was developed to cleanse and refresh the skin without over-stripping it or…
